This is the strange moment when a gardener saw a 100 kg ‘bodybuilder’ kangaroo with bulging biceps in a WA creek.
Jackson Vincent posted these astonishing photographs of the big river weaving its rippling muscles in Boodjidup Creek in Margaret River. The 27-year-old couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he saw the gigantic two-meter mammal jump into the water and feared it might be preparing to attack his beloved dog Dharma.
“I have been going to that creek since I was a little kid and there have always been kangaroos on the property. I was walking my dog and we saw this big guy splashing in the water. I have never seen a kangaroo submerging like that in the water; at first, we could barely see its head, and it was one of the biggest I’ve seen.”
“When I approached it to take a photograph, it moved closer and that’s when I realized it was coming straight at me and that it was really big. I am quite confident with animals, but the moment it started coming out of the water, my heart skipped a beat and I decided to take a few steps back. It seemed to be at least two meters (6 feet 5 inches) tall, or more, and probably weighed at least 100 kg (220 lbs),” the Perth-based photographer said.
On Wednesday, multiple photos of the rare event were shared on Facebook and quickly attracted more than 850 likes and approximately 3,000 shares. More than 600 people commented on the strange occurrence, many expressing disbelief at the animal’s physique.
The kangaroo appeared a bit confused that its bath in the river had been interrupted, looking quite displeased as it gazed at the human intruders.
Many highlighted the impressive physique of the kangaroo and its posture, despite most of its body being submerged.
“Wow, what a bright and powerful kangaroo. Look at its legs and claws. Have you ever seen such a big guy,” wrote a social media user.
Another tried to mimic the beast’s thoughts and wrote: “Are you right, mate? I’m trying to have a bath here, you idiot.”
